P1-5-1
Displacement and distance | Physics | Kinematics |
Overview:
An exercise designed to explore the difference between the distance travelled and the displacement travelled.
Suggestions:
Let young students explain the animation. Encourage them to refer to daily situations.
Have the students draw cases where distance and displacements are:
- the same
- 100% or 200% different
For older students teachers may pose a number of questions about the ball’s velocity, speed, acceleration, kinetic and potential energy, etc.
