|Displacement and distance||Physics||Kinematics|
An exercise designed to explore the difference between the distance travelled and the displacement travelled.
Let young students explain the animation. Encourage them to refer to daily situations.
Have the students draw cases where distance and displacements are:
- the same
- 100% or 200% different
For older students teachers may pose a number of questions about the ball’s velocity, speed, acceleration, kinetic and potential energy, etc.
Learning object available in:
Terms you need to know:
|the length of the curved line|
|the length and direction of the straight line|
(2) Suggested age group. The learning object may be used by the Teachers with students of any age.
